MPES LibGuide

Engaged Scholarship is an orientation to teaching and research that connects “the rich resources of the university to our most pressing social, civic, and ethical problems”(1). These connections are explicit, concrete, and distinguished by methods, pedagogies, and scholarly processes that are applied, collaborative, participatory, and action-oriented.

Funding and Faculty Support

The Mindich Program in Engaged Scholarship (MPES) can provide support funding for reasonable expenses to teach an engaged scholarship course. Support will vary across approaches; depend on what the engaged learning component entails; how many times the course will be taught; the size of a course; and considering other course support that may be available through departments and OUE. Support is only available for designated Engaged Scholarship courses.

NEW: Engaged Scholarship Curricular Innovation Awards for 2022-2023!

Dear Faculty,

The Mindich Program in Engaged Scholarship (MPES) is excited to announce funding for Engaged Scholarship Curricular Innovation Awards. This award invites proposals for undergraduate courses on all topics across the liberal arts and sciences that employ an engaged scholarship pedagogical approach.

  • Applications are due March 1, 2022

Courses may be departmental, general education, or freshman seminar. Proposals may be for the development of new courses, as well as for the substantive redesign of existing courses.
